THCV Structure

What is tetrahydrocannabivarin (∆9-THCV)?

Tetrahydrocannabivarin, also known as THCV, or ∆9-THCV, is a naturally occurring analog of the well-known, major cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. While these two cannabinoids may share a similar structure and name, they have very different physiological effects. Notably, unlike THC which is a controlled substance due to its intoxicating and euphoric effects, ∆9-THCV is non-intoxicating. In addition, while THC is found abundantly in the Cannabis sativa plant, ∆9-THCV is a rare, or minor, cannabinoid found in only trace amounts in the plant.

Of the more than 140 rare cannabinoids, ∆9-THCV is one of the most well-studied. ∆9-THCV has been the subject of studies in several conditions with much of the scientific research focused on its appetite suppressive effects.

d8-THCV vs d9-THCV: What’s the difference and why does it matter?

Delta 9-THCV (d9-THCV) and Delta 8-THCV (d8-THCV) have the same molecular composition, but their compound structure is different by the position of one double-bond.

As compared to d8-THCV, d9-THCV is the naturally-occurring variant found in the Cannabis plant and has specifically been the subject of the vast majority of scientific research into the potential effects of THCV. In addition, d9-THCV is significantly more difficult to manufacture. BayMedica manufactures a d9-THCV to high purity via a proprietary process.

Pure and consistent tetrahydrocannabivarin you can trust

We know minor cannabinoids in depth, ensuring consistently high quality and purity each and every time. While many scientists can synthesize cannabinoids, very few can do so at large scale while maintaining purity, quality and consistency. We can and we have. BayMedica’s ∆9-dominant THCV is produced to high purity via a proprietary process and are manufactured using well-established laboratory methods. Our cannabinoids are made in accordance with food-grade GMP standards, and are tested at certified laboratories. Like all of our minor cannabinoid products, ∆9-THCV can be combined in precise ratios with other cannabinoids to create unique health and wellness products.

Nature’s Twin – Bioidentical Cannabinoids for Your Health and Wellness Products

BayMedica has been able to reproduce minor cannabinoids that are bioidentical to those found in the plant through clean, consistent and reliable methods. This means that our cannabinoids have an identical molecular structure to the cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. Now we are producing them at commercial scale as raw ingredients for your health and wellness products. We have large scale batches of tetrahydrocannabivarin (∆9-THCV), cannabidivarin (CBDV), cannabichromene (CBC) and cannabicitran (CBT) available now for B2B sales.
